Articles, Diet Tips

After my previous post concerning diet tips, I was online trying to see what other tips helped others and I came across this great list from Chris Pirillo simply called 50 Weight Loss Tips. the post is two years back, published in 2006 but hey, great diet advice never grows old eh?

I had a blast going over Chris’ tips and I’ve picked out those that I actually did use to help me stick to my healthier lifestyle. Here’s a quick rundown of them.

Take before and after photos. I actually really did do this. At the start of my diet, I took a current picture of myself (my NOW photo) and then attached another picture where I was at a more desirable weight before (my desired AFTER photo). Every 10 or 15 days I would then ‘insert’ a picture between these two to track my progress. I know of other peWhy? Because the goal of achieving that rocking swimsuit body might seem like an impossible task (aren’t models on magazines Photoshop’d anyway?) and so you might not stick to your diet.

Chris’ article posting your ‘improvements’ online so that other people can see your progress. I never did that but might be something that will work for you!

Start reading labels. You don’t need to be a nutritionist to start making sense of all those things on product labels, you know. A basic understanding of salt and sodium intakes, and good fats and bad fats is already a very good way to start being more knowledgeable on deciding on whether you should be eating a certain type of food item or not.

Identify your exercise. We all don’t like the same things so it’s very important to find an exercise routine that you’re more likely to stick with. For me, it’s been taking power walks in the morning outdoors and using my cross trainer at home. What about you?

Don’t compare yourself to others. I was guilty of doing this before and I tell you it can be stressful. Once I realized that I should simply focus on my own diet and weight achievements, lo and behold… the pounds started to drift away.

Don’t take a magic pill. I never did this too. For me, more than being dubious of the weight results these ‘miracle cures’ can bring, I was afraid of putting ‘relatively unknown chemicals’ in my body. I did once try a slimming tea that was based on senna leaves. I tell you, I went to the bathroom numerous times that day and I had a really painful tummy so I considered it a lesson learned!

Well, there you have it. Five more tips that worked for me. Check out Chris’ article and see what other dieting tips sound like they will work for you.
