Articles, Diet Tips

Yesterday, I posted an entry on my favorite diet tips from a Yahoo! health article which discussed some of the Smartest Diet Tips ever. Here is part 2, which gives you some more pointers on dieting.

Add vegetables to your meals – Vegetables are essential when you are on a diet plan and should be added to almost every part of your meal. Whether you are having soup, a snack, or a main meal, adding vegetables with every meal can be easy. You can make cabbage soup or a lettuce and carrot sandwich or add some boiled vegetables to your pasta and take it with your meal. Salads can also be used with main meals to increase your vegetable intake.

If you are hungry, delay eating – If you are feeling hungry at an odd time, you should try and change your attention to something else. Eating between meals can negatively affect your diet plan, so waiting for your meal is a good thing to do. Also, by changing your attention to something else, you will allow yourself to get rid of the craving easily.

Do not skip meals – When you are on a diet plan, make sure you never miss a meal. By missing a meal, you will actually end up eating more food the next time you eat, which can be disastrous for your diet plan. You should take healthy meals throughout the day and follow your diet plan as much as possible.

Avoid high carb foods – Foods high in carbohydrates like pasta should be avoided. Carbohydrates are an instant source of energy and calories which is why they should be avoided. Adding vegetables to pasta will help you eat fewer carbohydrates and add fiber to your diet.

Take note of Nutritional Labels – Convenience foods and other packaged foods clearly list the amount of calories present in them and the energy you will get per serving. If you are following a diet plan, you should carefully read the nutritional facts on any food you buy from the shelf before you consume it.

Avoid fried foods – Deep fried and shallow fried foods should be completely avoided during and after a diet plan. If you love to eat proteins, and dairy products like eggs and meat, you should look for other alternate methods of cooking them like steaming or poaching. They will not only taste great but you will be able to add them to your daily cooking routine and continue them even after you have lost the extra pounds.

Wear tight clothes during the holiday season – This tip was quite surprising for me but is very useful and practical. By wearing body-hugging clothes which give less room for “expansion” after a meal, you can actually help yourself eat less!

Exercise regularly – One of the most important tips of weight loss is to exercise regularly. This should be done on a daily basis and should not be skipped at any costs. Regular exercise should also be made part of your post diet routine.

These are the tips that personally worked for me. Give them a try will you? They might be the very diet tips that work for you too!
